ISRAEL: New Calculation of Validity for Short-Term Assignments

The Israeli Ministry of Interior has recently advised that all short-term assignments will be limited to not more than 90 days within a 180-day period. This affects the Short-Term Employment Process (STEP), Hi-Tech 90-Day (HIT 90) visas and Short Employment Authorisation (SEA) visas.

The STEP and HIT 90 authorisations were already limited to 90 days per calendar year, and the SEA to 45 days per calendar year. Previously, however, employers could apply for a new work visa valid from the start of the following calendar year for assignees in Israel at the end of the previous year, and thus retain the assignee for up to six months in total.
