COLOMBIA – Venezuelans Can Apply for a Mercosur Visa
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Colombia has announced that Venezuelan nationals can apply for a Mercosur Visa. Recently, this privilege was also extended to citizens of Paraguay and Uruguay.
What is the Mercosur Visa?
The Mercosur Immigration Agreement enables foreign nationals from signatories with a reciprocal arrangement (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay and now Venezuela) to obtain a temporary residence visa in Colombia for a period of two years with work and/or study permission during their stay.
The visa can be obtained post-arrival or in Colombian consulates abroad. It is not tied to a particular employer, and the holder may be employed locally, on short-term transfer from an employer abroad or self-employed.
